Job Title: Development & Communications Director
Position Category: Hours: Full Time, 40 hours a week, exempt position.
Education (minimum requirements): High School Diploma; College Degree preferred
Other Qualifications:

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience or participating in an organization’s capital campaign
  • Fundraising event planning experience
  • Grant writing experience
  • Expert at common social media platforms, best practices, and trends.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to create and work within an established development plan
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software, along with Adobe, Photoshop & Canva
  • Database management experience preferred
  • Experience with Mailchimp, Constant Contact or other mass mail delivery systems.
  • Affinity for horses

About Camp Able of Buffalo Gap (formal name Advocates for Camp Able) is a nonprofit that was established in 2014 and, thanks to the ongoing support and generosity from the community, donors and volunteers, has grown into a viable therapeutic riding organization that has offered over 10,000 unique riding opportunities for learning and increased independence to special needs children and adults.
Camp Able is dedicated to empowering individuals with special needs through therapeutic riding and inclusive skills-based training.

Role Overview for Camp Able’s Development Director:
We are looking for an experienced leader to oversee development and communications activities, operations and processes. The Development & Communications Director will play a key role in delivering the necessary funding to ensure the viability of programs, ensure organizational effectiveness, and support the growth of the company.
This position will report to the Executive Director and requires excellent judgment and communication skills. This position is responsible for the curation of Camp Able’s donors, and the timely, accurate and frequent communication with donors. This position is also responsible for the public face of Camp Able, including social media and public relations.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
Development:
  • Work with Executive Director and Camp Able staff to develop strategic plans and annual fundraising goals.
  • Create and manage overall development activity calendar, and communicate deadlines, progress on goals, time-sensitive events on a weekly basis to the Camp Able staff.
  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, apply for grants and community foundation funds.
  • Develop and track all proposals and reports for all foundations and corporate fundraising.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with donors.
Social Media:
  • Coordinate and engage Camp Able’s social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and other related platforms to support our brand, build our community online, and communicate to our stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and proper posts according to the plan developed in coordination with the Camp Able staff and Executive Director.
  • Track analytics and performance metrics related to our social media presence.
Public Relations:
  • Develop an annual communications plan aligned with the organizations needs and activities
  • Develop media relationships in the community.
  • Collaborate with Camp Able staff and stakeholders working at Camp Able to gather and tell Camp Able stories through multiple marketing avenues.
  • Send press releases throughout the year as needed.
  • Maintain and update website content including updates, new blog posts, adding new events to the calendar, and other contents as needed.
