POSITION: Sports Tourism Manager
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau
FUNCTION: Identify, develop, and implement an annual sales strategy and plan for the sports market. This includes new client development, local sport partnerships, and maintaining existing annual sports clients.
STATUS: Exempt
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute annual sales strategy and plan for the sports market, which includes researching new events for Abilene.
- Create bid proposals for new and returning sports clients.
- Generate leads for sports related events representing new business.
- Input and update accurate data into IDSS CRM platform to monitor and track sales progress.
- Represent the Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau at industry-related meetings, events, and local, state and national associations.
- Collaborate with group servicing staff on execution and event coordination for sports clients.
- Work with the Marketing & Communications Director to develop collateral materials specifically designed to increase the awareness of Abilene as a sports destination.
- Assist the Vice President in developing and managing annual budget for the sports market.
- Collaborate with other staff on events and activities related to all markets including specific roles for major events, support services roles outside of the sports market as necessary.
- Report monthly to the ACVB Board of Directors on sports tourism activities and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years’ experience in hospitality/sports sales, event management or general sales
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

- Flexible schedule to accommodate event and meeting schedules, including some nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Valid Texas driver’s license
