Health Science Professor Expectations: Expectations are that faculty members of Cisco College accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, and competent manner and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Faculty will exhibit dedication to teaching and to the success of their students. Emphasis will be on effective course design and engaging instruction for dual credit and online students. Additionally, faculty should demonstrate a commitment to the comprehensive role of the community college as stated in the College Mission, collaborate, and work harmoniously with College personnel and the public. All Cisco College employees are to follow College policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines that relate to the specific position.

Health Science Faculty Team: The Health Science Division at Cisco College includes faculty from the following teaching disciplines: Respiratory Therapy and Surgical Technology. All members of the Health Science Division collaborate and communicate regularly to improve student success and assist in course planning and preparation. Health Science faculty report to the Health Science Division Chair.

Health Science Professor Responsibilities:

• Design courses across all modalities (online, hybrid, dual credit, and on-campus) that encourage engagement and promote student success.
• Deliver high-quality instruction that aligns with state, college, and division standards.
• Use the LMS (Canvas) and other college-approved instructional technologies to organize and present course materials, communicate with students, assess learning, and provide timely feedback.
• Engage proactively with students through timely communication, individualized feedback, and content-focused support.
• Take an active role in each course by initiating interaction, facilitating meaningful discussions, and providing direct instruction and clarification
• Respond promptly and supportively to student inquiries, offering guidance that encourages persistence, addresses challenges, and promotes course completion. 
• Maintain a minimum of five posted office hours per week and provide additional availability by appointment as appropriate to student needs.
• Complete all required administrative and professional duties, including submission of syllabi, grades, and evaluations, and participation in assessment and institutional effectiveness activities.
• Participates in ongoing professional growth by staying current in discipline and pedagogy and setting goals to continuously improve course design, delivery, and student learning.
• Contribute to student success through advising, registration, orientation, and pathway support.
• Support the mission of the College through committee service and participation in faculty and division meetings. 
• Collaborate professionally with the Division Chair, faculty, staff, and administrators to support scheduling, curriculum planning, and continuous improvement.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Division Chair or College Administration.

Essential Qualifications and Experience Required for the Health Science Professor position:
• Associate Degree and a minimum of 2 years in a Health Science Field such as nursing, medical assisting, or public health. An Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, or Surgical Technology is preferred.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated teaching ability with teaching experience preferred.
• Enthusiasm for teaching and student success.
• Ongoing participation in professional development or membership in relevant academic/professional organizations.
