The Business Edge provides an hour to discuss an issue that our business community has expressed a need to address. These group discussions are an opportunity to hear from industry and educational partners of the Abilene Industrial Foundation and the Abilene Chamber of Commerce.
This month we will feature a panel discussion focused on internships in the workplace. Internships are important for the student and the employer to build skills, ensure fit with the company and develop relationships. We will be meeting in the Chamber board room from 12 pm - 1 pm. Jill Fortson is the Director of the Abilene Christian University Career Center and adjunct faculty for the ACU Online communication department. As part of her role as the director, she works with both undergraduate and graduate students to connect them with internships as well as post-graduate employment opportunities and prepare them for life after graduation.
Amelia Reeves is the Director of Youth Career and Education Services at Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas. Since 2019, Amelia and her team have worked to positively impact the career and educational pathways of all students in the West Central Texas region through collaboration with education, industry, community, and non-profit partners.
About the AIF: The Abilene Industrial Foundation is the Abilene Chamber of Commerce’s private sector representative in the community’s economic development partnership.
