Description

Join us for our second ABIChat luncheon of 2020 sponsored by Abilene's Germ Killer! The theme of ABIChat for 2020 will be "from good to great." Through this series, we'll explore and learn about how different community leaders took their leadership abilities and community projects from good to great!

The second speaker in this year's luncheon series is new Development Corporation of Abilene (DCOA) CEO, Misty Mayo. Before her time in Abilene, Mayo worked in Boerne, Texas, for the Boerne Kendall County Economic Development Corporation and in San Antonio, Texas, as executive vice president at the Economic Development Foundation. In total, she has more than 25 years experience in economic development.

In Boerne, Mayo led efforts for the attraction of more than 30 new companies, including a medical and retail office center, high end mixed-use development, a new national hotel facility and a Buc-ee’s.

She helped raise the national profile of the Texas Hill Country region to attract investments in healthcare, multiuse commercial and retail space and information technology, the website post said. Operationally, she reorganized the organization’s structure and updated their branding, website and communications strategy.

Mayo and her husband, Ted, have three children, who will move to Abilene before her first day, the website post said.

Safety Protocols
Here at the Abilene Chamber, we’re committed to creating and providing an environment where you feel comfortable. We know you’re eager to get out and market your business so with guidance from local leadership, our team will walk you through five principles we’ve adopted for upcoming events. It is our hope that with these principles, our partners will be able to resume networking while creating a safe space for yourself and those around you. Click here for our video.

  • We’re limiting the entrance of events to just one area so proper temperature checks and hand sanitation can take place before anyone enters the building.
  • To protect your health and the health of others, masks will be required and will be on-hand for those who do not have one. We know that not all will feel the comfortable in a mask, but in order to get back to some sort of “normalcy” it’s a step we feel that we need to take to help ensure you remain healthy.
  • We’ll have multiple hand sanitizing stations throughout the facility as well as signage encouraging one way traffic down aisle at Business Expo and Business Mercado.
  • Unsure of if the person you’re wanting to visit with is physically distancing? We’ll have colored bracelets on-hand to help you communicate to those around you which measures you are practicing. A red will mean no contact, yellow elbows only while still being cautious, blue hi-five and handshakes with frequent sanitizing.
  • We’re boosting up our signage throughout events to help remind everyone in attendance of proper public health guidelines.
Protecting the health and safety of everyone at our events is a shared responsibility and we know you as our valued partner stand ready to do your part. Let’s take more steps toward economic recovery, together.
