DESCRIPTION:Your AYP Committee is actively looking for ways to bring value to your membership and are excited to bring you an opportunity to hear from Executive Vice President\, Business Operations and General Counsel for the Dallas Stars National Hockey League - Alana Matthews.\n\n\n\nABOUT ALANA:\n\nAlana C. Matthews serves as Executive Vice President Business Operations and General Counsel for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL).  \n\n \n\nIn her role with the Stars\, Matthews oversees all business operations including human resources\, payroll\, legal\, finance and administration\, information technology\, and the Comerica Center. In her role as General Counsel\, Matthews provides counsel and legal expertise in several capacities to all entities within Dallas Sports & Entertainment\, which include the NHL hockey club\, the Dallas Stars Foundation\, the Comerica Center and the StarCenters throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Her additional responsibilities include supporting the team's legal interest in American Airlines Center and the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League. \n\n \n\nShe previously worked for Wilson\, Elser\, Moskowitz\, Edelman and Dicker LLP in Dallas\, Texas prior to joining the Stars in April 2014.  Matthews is a graduate of SMU Dedman School of Law\, graduating with honors.  Matthews completed her undergraduate studies at Colgate University\, graduating magna cum laude with a degree in political science and received high honors for her constitutional law thesis. \n\n \n\nMatthews is an avid runner in her free time having completed 15 marathons\, including two Boston Marathons. Matthews lives in Frisco with her husband Grant and sons Declan and Thatcher.
